About the Journal
Regional Studies Journal (RSJ) is a peer‑reviewed, open‑access, quarterly academic journal published by the Center for Regional Studies at the University of Mosul, Iraq. Established in 2004, the journal publishes original research and scholarly studies in the fields of humanities and social sciences, with a particular focus on contemporary history, political science, law, and economics, especially in relation to regional and international issues.
1. Scope and Focus RSJ provides a scholarly platform for publishing rigorous and original research addressing political, historical, legal, economic, social, cultural, geographical, security, and strategic issues from regional and comparative perspectives. The journal pays special attention to Iraq, the Middle East, and neighboring regions, as well as their relations and interactions with major regional and international powers.
2. Interdisciplinary Research The journal welcomes interdisciplinary and cross‑disciplinary studies that contribute to understanding regional developments and their broader international implications. It encourages analytical, comparative, historical, empirical, and theoretical approaches that enrich contemporary scholarly debates.
3. Publication Frequency RSJ is published quarterly, with four issues per year (one issue every three months).
4. Language Policy Arabic is the primary language of the journal, but submissions in English are also accepted. Articles published in Arabic are accompanied by an English abstract, while articles published in English include an Arabic abstract.
5. Peer Review Process All submissions undergo initial editorial screening, followed by double‑blind peer review, provided they meet the preliminary requirements and conform to the journal’s editorial and ethical standards.
6. Open Access Policy RSJ is an open‑access journal. All published articles are freely available online under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), in accordance with the terms of this license.
7. Article Processing Charges (APCs) No APCs are charged to authors affiliated with institutions outside Iraq. Authors affiliated with institutions inside Iraq are required to pay an APC of 125,000 Iraqi dinars for each accepted article. No fees are charged at submission or during the peer review process.
8. Archiving The journal’s contents are digitally archived for long‑term preservation through the Iraqi Academic Scientific Journals (IASJ) platform, affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Iraq.
9. DOI Assignment All published articles are assigned a permanent Digital Object Identifier (DOI), ensuring easy identification, citation, and electronic accessibility.
