Supporting the Sustainable Development Goals
The Regional Studies Journal (RSJ) is committed to supporting rigorous scholarly research in the humanities and social sciences, particularly in political and strategic, historical, legal, economic, and social studies, with a focus on relevant regional and international issues. In alignment with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the journal encourages the publication of scholarly research addressing sustainable development issues and contributing to scientific knowledge, academic dialogue, and evidence-informed policymaking in areas related to the Sustainable Development Goals.
Through its research scope and scholarly publications, the journal particularly supports the following Sustainable Development Goals:
Goal 4 – Quality Education: By publishing research that contributes to the advancement of knowledge and education, promotes critical thinking, and examines education policies, lifelong learning, and access to knowledge.
Goal 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth: By supporting research on sustainable and inclusive economic growth, development policies, labor markets, decent work, productivity, innovation, and regional economic development.
Goal 10 – Reduced Inequalities: By encouraging studies addressing economic, social, and political inequalities, social inclusion, justice and equal opportunities, and disparities within and among societies.
Goal 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities: By publishing research on urban and regional development, local governance, public policies, community resilience, cultural heritage protection, and the sustainability of local communities.
Goal 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions: By supporting research on peace and security, conflict prevention and resolution, the rule of law, justice, good governance, combating corruption, effective and accountable institutions, and peaceful and inclusive societies.
Goal 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: By encouraging multidisciplinary scholarly collaboration, knowledge and expertise exchange, and academic, regional, and international partnerships that contribute to research and sustainable development.
These goals, together with the other Sustainable Development Goals, provide a thematic reference framework that may be reflected in the research published by the journal, depending on the nature, discipline, and methodology of each study.
